A Fusion of Tradition and Innovation: Inside Dubai’s Mohammed Bin Rashid Library

Dubai's Mohammed Bin Rashid Library (MBRL), inaugurated in 2022, marries tradition with innovation. This 66,000 square-meter architectural marvel houses 1.5 million print and digital books and a vast database of 21 million titles and videos. Founded by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to honor the National Year of Reading, MBRL symbolizes culture and convenience in a bustling city. Its design, resembling a traditional Quran book rest, houses rare manuscripts and first editions, dating back to the 13th century. With seven stories, MBRL aims to be the MENA region's premier library, preserving Arabic heritage, and offering a cultural oasis with 200 annual events and performances.
