March 2026
Bibliotheca has released a new control software update (PLC version 2.5) for flexAMH systems, introducing several enhancements designed to expand system configuration options and improve item handling within automated material handling environments.
This update applies globally and introduces new capabilities across flexAMH devices and related systems.
What is New
2-Way Sorter
A new 2-Way Sorter device has been introduced to support exception sorting behind a Patron Return unit without requiring a full 3-Way Sorter.
Expanding the functionality of the flexAMH conveyor module, the 2-Way Sorter can route returned items in two directions, either toward the next device in the system or to a designated sorting destination.
This configuration provides a more compact and cost-effective option for certain flexAMH system layouts.
Support for Side Input
This update introduces side-input support, allowing items to be fed directly onto sorter modules.
This capability can help libraries expand sorting destinations while maintaining the same system footprint and support more flexible system layouts depending on throughput requirements.
flexAMH 570 Configuration Enhancements
Additional configuration options have been introduced for the flexAMH 570, Bibliotheca’s simplified patron return point, helping patrons return items more quickly and improving system responsiveness.
New Capabilities Include:
- Item Pre-Placement
- Early Sort Response
- In-Motion Processing
- Oversize Item Detection
These enhancements support smoother item return workflows and more efficient system operation.
