libraryConnect LINK v1.9 | People counter integration, smarter permissions, and role-based alerts

May 2026

The latest libraryConnect LINK release brings people counter data into the platform, giving libraries a more complete view of their operations in one place, alongside meaningful improvements to how user permissions and alerts are managed.

open+ footfall data, now in libraryConnect LINK

Libraries using open+ count can now connect their count data directly to libraryConnect LINK, where it appears alongside other device data in the Insights tab.

This means footfall figures from open+ sensors sit in the same reporting environment as borrowing activity and other operational data, making it easier to spot trends, compare metrics, and share reports with the right people.

Libraries with a mix of open+ people counters and security gates will see both reflected in the Footfall table within Insights.

Key benefits of this integration:

  • All data in one place, reducing the need to switch between systems
  • Footfall can be compared directly with borrow data and other activity
  • Scheduled email reports can be sent to staff on a daily or weekly basis
  • Branch-level access permissions can be applied to control who sees what
  • open+ count data is also included in our APIs allowing libraries
  • The integration allows libraries to use the permission structure of LINK
  • Allows libraries to use the improved report scheduling options in LINK

Setup is straightforward: open+ sensors are configured in open+ as usual, then linked to libraryConnect LINK via serial number under Settings / Devices / Add Device.

Smarter, cleaner user permissions

Managing user roles in libraryConnect LINK is now more intuitive. Custom Roles have been overhauled to better reflect how libraries actually work, with clearer permission descriptions, removal of duplicate or redundant options, new permissions where gaps existed, and a permission list now ordered alphabetically for easier navigation.

Role-based alert routing

Alerts in libraryConnect LINK can now be assigned to specific Roles, so the right notification reaches the right person. A printer offline alert, for example, can be directed to Admin users only, while a paper-out alert goes to front-of-house staff. This helps reduce noise and keeps teams focused on what's relevant to them.

General improvements

This release also includes a number of bug fixes, including a resolution for promotion images not displaying correctly from quickConnect, and improvements to how configuration and promotion changes are distributed across large groups of devices.
