selfCheck selfCheck kiosks | New  Accessibility Features

April 2024

Bibliotheca has introduced a series of new accessibility features for the selfCheck 1000 and 3000 kiosks. With these options, Bibliotheca not only complies with ADA and DDA requirements but also has externally certified compliance with WCAG and EN ISO 301549.

Enhanced Accessibility Features:

Audio Jack Integration: Patrons can utilize an audio jack port in combination with the text-to-voice feature. The system automatically detects when headphones are connected. Kiosk "beeps" remain audible for all patrons even when not using headphones.

Braille and Visual Indicators: The audio jack kit includes a headphone symbol and the word "Audio" in Braille.

Volume Control: Volume control is done via the physical keyboard; quickConnect offers an option to reset the volume level at the end of a patron session.

Physical Keyboard Navigation: Physical keyboard to allow users with limited or no vision, and/or limited manual dexterity, to navigate the user interface without having to use the touchscreen

Voice Descriptions: Voice descriptions are provided for all text, library items, popups, and images, facilitating a guided experience for users requiring auditory assistance.

Customizable Voice Guidance: Patrons have the option to pause, continue, repeat, or disable voice guidance as needed. Proficient users can navigate to the next screen without waiting for the voice guidance to finish.

Enhanced Session Management: When text-to-speech is active, the inactivity timer is delayed. If the timeout is set to 15 seconds, the timer will only begin once the text-to-speech has finished.
