The latest quickConnect software release expands how libraries can connect patrons to services at the kiosk, with new third-party web integrations, an additional event provider, and greater flexibility in how the interface looks and sounds.
accessConnect: the secure gateway to external services
quickConnect v2.13 introduces accessConnect, a new feature that allows libraries to embed third-party web content directly within the kiosk interface, giving patrons access to additional services without leaving the self-service experience.
accessConnect is available in two levels:
- Generic integration: ideal for simple, touch-friendly pages such as patron surveys or library feedback forms. No login required.
- Partner integration: designed for more functional services such as room booking, PC reservations, or OPAC search. Partner integrations support patron authentication via selfCheck and can be styled to match the quickConnect interface.
This feature has been designed with the patron experience in mind. Access to the browser address bar can be restricted, keeping patrons within the intended content. The WebContent icon can be customized with library-specific text and imagery to match the service being offered.
Libraries interested in exploring an accessConnect integration should contact their Bibliotheca representative to discuss next steps.
Adding third-party content extends what your kiosk can offer, but it is worth considering that patrons may spend more time on the device. Bibliotheca can help you think through the right setup for your library, contact your representative to discuss next steps.
LibraryCalendar by LibraryMarket: a new events integration
quickConnect now supports LibraryCalendar by LibraryMarket as an event provider, joining our existing integrations with Communico Attend, Springshare LibCal, and LocalHop.
Libraries using LibraryMarket can now display upcoming events directly on the kiosk, keeping patrons informed and engaged with what's on at their library.
Full button icon customization
Libraries can now replace any kiosk button icon with a library-specific design directly through System Manager. This update makes the process more accessible and gives libraries greater control over how their kiosk looks.
Additional updates
This release also includes a number of iterative improvements across the platform:
- AudioNav sound output options: continued refinement of audio output flexibility for kiosks using the AudioNav accessibility device
- Estonian language support: quickConnect is now available in Estonian
- smartShelf snooze mode: libraries can now configure a custom snooze duration when operating in smartShelf mode
